Thanks Russ. Looking forward to more video on solar. I am going to take off the wineguard dome satellite antenna and use the existing holes to put up a a 100 watt solar panel. But before I do want to watch your prtable panel reviews. Your reasoning for going portable makes sense to me

Russ- I got the 100 watt Renogy "suitcase " during the holidays. $199.00 on E Bay , reconditioned but looks like new .
    Work great too!!

Hi Russ, glad you're feeling some better. I like portable solar, but one of the down sides for me (besides much higher price) is that they can be stolen much easier and faster then mounted solar. You are forced to babysit the rig while the panels are charging so they don't get carried off. I'm not sure it's the best way to go. Your thoughts?

I bought a lithium/iron/phosphate battery (LiFePo) because I wanted as little worry as possible. They say they can be discharged to zero over 2,000 times without hurting them. This was in contrast to other types of batteries which can only be discharged to 50%. My thinking was that I'd only need 1/2 as many batteries for the same amount of storage and minimal hassle. The only downside was the cost. But it was worth it to me. (Similar to the Goal Zero Yeti you show here, mine is a Renogy Lycan. I wanted an all-in-one system that could easily be moved from the vehicle.)
