Hybrid Solar Lighting System Employing Fiber Optic Cables

http://www.homemadepowerplant.com/?hop=adonpub Hybrid solar lighting is different than traditional solar power, using photovoltaic panels, which converts sun light into electricity. Hybrid solar lighting captures sunlight and channels it through fiber optic cables directly into a room. The term hybrid refers to the output sun light being combined with traditional lighting to compensate for less than optimal sun light output due to periodic overhead cloud obstructions. These new light fixtures generate less heat than conventional bulbs, and that means less power is spent on air conditioning. They also provides a full spectrum of light. Fluorescent bulbs that only emit at certain frequencies.

    audio is kind of low..

$10,000 dollars to light 1000 sq feet I would say to expensev for me

  3. Brilliant! Just Brilliant!

  4. Awesome technology use. I am viewing for the first time in 2013 which is 6 years after the program (guessing from info in program). The price was estimated at $10k then so I am curious to see if it is affordable now. Anyone have any current info?

  5. Just contacted a Parans rep (April 2014) who said it is $6-8K for @1000 square feet of lighting.  Would be great to see this technology challenge the skylight/solar tube industry.  Apparently the fiber optic cables do not bend w/o damage beyond 50 degrees and the length of the run is still limited to@ 45' for the best results.  Still access to first level, hard to reach areas of 2-story homes or apt. complexes would be available. While now, without clear attic access, daylight for darker, windowless rooms is not an option with skylights or solar tubes.

  6. His company went belly up. Duncan Earl did a crowd fund effort in 2014 for a product called a light bandit. http://www.cnet.com/news/light-bandit-a-straw-for-sunlight/ All sounds good but I think this guy and Oak Ridge have only been able to bandit tax payers money. Too bad it is a great idea.
